A piano isn’t furniture. It can weigh anywhere from 300 pounds for a spinet to well over 1,000 for a concert grand, and the weight is distributed in a way that punishes anyone who tries to move it like a dresser. We have a dedicated specialty crew for this, led by Hector Salazar, who’s been moving pianos for us for years. We use piano boards, skid boards, padding, and proper strapping, not a couple of movers and a prayer.
For grand pianos, that means partial disassembly: the legs and lyre come off, the body goes onto a padded skid board on its side, and it’s wrapped and secured before it ever moves. Uprights get boarded, padded, and walked with the right technique so the weight stays controlled on stairs and through doorways. We protect your floors and the instrument the entire way.
Houston throws extra challenges at piano moves, from second-floor media rooms in Memorial and the Woodlands to high-rise condos near the Galleria that need a freight elevator and a COI. We plan the path before we lift, measure doorways and turns, and bring the crew size the job actually requires.
